Opportunity description: For students interested in debating the meaning of life this summer, the Witherspoon Institute may be for you! Their one-week program, which includes includes classes in Classic Moral Philosophy and Contemporary Issues in Moral Thought, provides students with plenty of opportunities to engage in discussion. PROGRAM IN MATHEMATICS FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS

Opportunity description: PROMYS is a challenging program designed to encourage ambitious high school students to explore the creative world of mathematics. Through their intensive efforts to solve an assortment of unusually challenging problems in Number Theory, participants will practice the art of mathematical discovery. The problem sets encourage students to design their own numerical experiments and to employ their own powers of analysis to discover mathematical patterns, formulate and test conjectures, and justify their ideas by devising their own mathematical proofs.

AMIGOS INTERNATIONAL

Location: Costa Rica, Ecuador, or Colorado

Opportunity description:

Costa Rica: The Montevede Project is open all students ages 15-19 and has no Spanish requirement. Volunteers will support the work of environmentalists on resettling sea turtle nesting sites due to higher tide levels and developing water catchment systems in the cloud forests of Monteverde. To see what being an AMIGO in Costa Rica feels like, read the blogs of the 2022 Spring Gap Semester volunteers.

Ecuador:  The Ecuador La Costa Project is on the southern coast and brings North American youth and local Ecuadorian youth leaders together in a pod model to learn about and support community resilience efforts and mangrove reforestation in the face of climate change and increased hurricanes in the region. This project will also stay near Bahia de Caraquez and learn about its innovations and evolution as an international Eco-city.

Colorado: This Western Slope project moves our volunteers through the different landscapes of the Rockies to gaze outwardly and inwardly and brings our pillars of service, leadership and cultural humility to the US. Volunteers will explore the successes and challenges of environmental stewardship by supporting trail work, river water sample collection and surveys on burn scar areas. The program will also dive into the themes of the urban/ rural divide, the interface of wilderness areas and suburbs, equity and access to national parks and how effective conservation require diverse voices, partnership and collaboration.

INSPIRIT AI LIVE ONLINE
